Thomas Tuchel Questions Home Crowd Support Despite Emphatic Wales Victory.

The England head coach expressed his regret that the Three Lions team did not enjoy stronger backing from the home crowd during their impressive triumph over Wales on Thursday night.

The manager was happy to see his squad maintain their strong performance, with goals from Rogers, Watkins, and Bukayo Saka inside the first 20 minutes effectively ending the contest. Yet, he was unhappy with the energy at the iconic venue.

“We had one and a half training days to prepare against a drilled team and we excelled,” the coach commented. “We could have been five goals ahead at half-time. We couldn’t score the fourth and fifth ones. It was quiet. There was no any energy back from the crowd. Our team gave their all to win.”

“What more can you give in 20 minutes? We didn’t let them escape. When you only hear just the Welsh supporters for half an hour, it’s regrettable because the squad deserved better encouragement today.”

“I support my words. We cannot do more than leading 3-0 in a derby. I would have wished for a greater support in moments where it is challenging.”

“In the second half, to support us, there was a bit too much support for Wales. It might have aided us to refocus, but that’s the way it went and that is it.”

Selection Choices Justified by Performance

Apart from risking a dispute among supporters, the manager also created controversy by leaving out Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden from his team selection. But the decision was backed up by Morgan Rogers impressing again in the No 10 position and scoring his maiden goal for his country.

“He plays his game,” Tuchel explained. “He is a No 10 and he is vying for his place.”

Wales Manager Seeks Lessons from Defeat

The Wales manager hopes that his team, who face Belgium in a crucial World Cup qualifier on Monday, take lessons from their disappointing first-half display.

“That’s the reason I wanted this match,” Bellamy commented. “I need to see our current level. What are our ambitions? What is our identity? Today fills me with motivation.”

Fitness Worry for Striker

Ollie Watkins was taken off at half-time after clattering into a post and may miss out when England play their next opponents in the Latvian capital in a qualifier on Tuesday.
