The Prince of Wales Set to Attend UN Climate Conference in South America

Prince William is scheduled to attend the United Nations climate conference in Brazil in the coming weeks, as confirmed by the royal household.

Prince William and King Charles appeared together on Thursday night at a reception leading up to the environmental conference, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belém.

The King and Prince were participating in the Natural History Museum reception, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a climate summit preparatory event organized in partnership with the United Kingdom administration.

Climate Leadership Commitment

King Charles has been a consistent supporter of biodiversity preservation - and Prince William has assumed the responsibility, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be hosted in Rio before the UN meeting.

Official representatives have characterized the Prince's participation at the forthcoming conference as assuming an crucial position in "global climate discussions".

Previous Activities

The King and Prince of Wales, making a joint entrance in the official car, were welcomed participants featuring conservation experts, researchers, environmental activists, foreign representatives and politicians.

This engagement featured addresses together with French leader Macron of France and other international figures at the Ocean Finance Summit in Monaco earlier this year.

Earthshot Awards Connection

The climate conference will coincide with the William's personal climate innovation prizes, which will finish in Rio de Janeiro the day before he attends the climate conference on November 6th.

Last week the William referred to the Earthshot finalists as "heroes of our time".

Royal Climate Legacy

King Charles has been a prominent presence at previous climate summits, giving the opening address in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the reminder: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"I have spent a large proportion of my life trying to warn of the critical dangers facing us over global warming, environmental shifts and biodiversity loss," the King told attendees.
