Patriots Equal Longest Victory Run Since Brady Years with Win Over New York Jets

Patriots rookie TreVeyon Henderson in action

Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has scored five TDs this season

New England tied their top unbeaten stretch from the Brady period as they defeated division rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL

Rookie Henderson was the standout with three TDs as the New England squad secured an eight-game winning streak for the first time since iconic QB Tom Brady's last year with the team in the 2019 season

Quarterback Drake Maye accumulated 281 yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts

The triumph extends the New England's advantage at the top of the AFC East as they improved to a 9-2 record, with the Jets bottom after falling to a 2-8 mark

The Jets had gone in front at Foxborough with QB Fields scoring a short rushing score to cap the Jets' initial series

But the New England answered in the second period as the rookie ran in two seven-yard TDs before the running back hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone halfway into the third quarter to push the score to 21 to 7

"It was a key occasion for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," Maye said of Henderson. "He desires to be excellent."

Fields threw to John Metchie late in the third quarter to reduce the lead for the Jets but Andy Borregales kicked a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots wrapped up the win

Game Summary

  • New England continue victory run to eight matches
  • Rookie Henderson shines with three touchdowns
  • Drake Maye throws for 281 passing yards and a score
