New York Attorney General Faces Criminal Financial Fraud Indictment
A national judicial panel has indicted Letitia James for bank fraud on Thursday, per a person familiar with the matter.
The US attorney for the eastern district of Virginia handled the presentation of the charges to the grand jury this Thursday, the person said.
Federal prosecutors rarely appear before such panels.
Halligan was appointed as US attorney recently after the president became frustrated regarding the progress in ongoing probes involving adversaries.
The move represents the newest attempt to weaponize the DOJ to target adversaries.
It follows two weeks after charges were filed targeting the former FBI director.
Career prosecutors wrote a document in that case explaining the reasons charges were not justified.
Comey pleaded not guilty on Wednesday.
