Reports indicate that fan-favorite stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.

A Major Reunion for Fans

Lawrence and Hutcherson are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Speculation suggests their roles will likely occur in a brief glimpse ahead, as the main film series concluded with their characters settled into family life.

This marks the sixth cinematic outing in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.

Delving Into the Prequel

Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed most of the previous films in the series.

A New Era in Panem

The film's story are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.

The supporting roles feature several accomplished actors in important characters:

• Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
• Ralph Fiennes will appear as a younger version of the calculating President Snow.

What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson recently appeared in the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
