Diving into an Unusual Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Turdy Character in a Mission to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have encountered a variety of engaging creations from small studios. Yet, one is particularly notable for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer lets you play a protagonist that is literally a piece of poop trying to make its way to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."

The gameplay is simple: you only need a single jump button. In 150 challenges, you'll face mini-bosses and visit a store to acquire customizations for your poop character.

Plan your movements precisely, as a mistake means beginning again. Leap using floating orbs to launch the poop higher, navigate crumbling ledges, and interact with buttons to open hidden paths. Earn UN-KOINS for buying challenging levels where the action gets crazy.

Graphically, the demo shows off eye-catching environments and an amazing background music. Its minimalist graphics featuring morphing geometric shapes may remind players of beloved games like Earthbound.

Although difficult to think of previous releases where you play as a coiled turd, gaming often included scatological themes. For example, in Death Stranding, players create throwables from character excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as plant food. Naturally, such content appears extensively in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already earned notable accolades, including taking top honors at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is available now on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to launch on Steam on November 19.
